The Roman Catholic order of the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Providence founded Salve Regina College by state-granted charter. The college opened its doors to students in 1947 and adopted its present name, Salve Regina University (SRU), in 1991. SRU is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association. SRU awards a master of arts, master of science, master of business administration, graduate certificats and a doctor of philosophy. SRU offers some programs-including an MBA, MA in international relations, MA in humanities, MS in management and several professional certificates-entirely online. Instructors at SRU are trained to guide students to succesful completion of their course of study.
The student body consists of over 2,100 undergraduate students and over 400 graduate students, while alumni total over 14,000. The student faculty rationis 14 to one. Students benefit from the following student centers and services: academic and career development centers; counseling, health and student activities offices; student government association and academic clubs. The spiritual mission of the university is reflected in ministries such as retreats for staff, faculty and students; spirituality workshops; and mass and other sacramental rituals.

Admission requirements
To be considered for admission to SRU’s MA, MS and MBA programs, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an acredited institution. A completed application package should be sent to Graduate Admissions office and consist of the following: 1) a completed application form, 2) nonrefundalbe $50 graduate application fee, 3) official transcripts from all degree-granting schools attended, 4) two letters of recommendation and 5) GRE, GMAT or MAT score. This examination requirement may be waived for students whose portfolio indicates an ability to conduct graduate work.
To be considered for admission to the PhD program on campus, applicants must have a master’s degree from an acrredited institution. A completed package should be sent to the Graduate Admissions Office and consist of the following: 1) a completed application form, 2) nonrefundable $50 application fee, 3) all undergraduate and graduate transcripts from accredited degree-granting institutions, including proof of an approved master’s degree witha GPA of 3.3 or highter, 4) three letters of recommendation, 5) GRE test scores no more than five years old, 6) a 15-page paper completed for a master’s degree course and 7) current resume.
International graduate applicant must have a bachelor’s degree earned from a US institution or an equivalent education. Degree equivalencies must be determined by an organization authorized to make such determination. To be considered for admission, they must submit the documentation described above, as well as proof of English proficiencey, which can include TOEFL or IELTS scores, or proof that the applicant’s undergraduate program was undertaken in English. International graduate applicants must also submit proof of sufficient funds to cover academic and living expenses. International applicants must be submitted at least six months prior to the intended date of entry.
Applicants to online graduate programs (eSalve) can apply through one of four procedures: 1) print the html file and submit the application by mail, 2) print the pdf file and submit the application by mail, 3) complete an application online or 4) submit the requested information by email.
